Preparation

Before your massage, you will be given the opportunity to discuss your health and goals for the message with your therapist. Most massage techniques are performed directly on the skin; however, you may wear the amount of clothes you prefer for your own comfort. You are draped with a sheet when unclothed or partially clothed. Your personal comfort is a top priority. Lotion or oil is used to avoid excessive friction to the skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Results may be noticed within the session and continue integrating after it has ended. After a session, it is important to drink plenty of water to help transport any toxins that have been released from your soft tissue. Doing a series of sessions supports the integration process so that your body may re-establish a new, healthier pattern.
