Recently we acquired a Low Level Laser used to treat pain and inflammation.  Commonly referred to as a cold laser, laser therapy is the use of laser energy to create therapeutic effects.  According to Apollo Lasers the use of these has been shown in research to improve healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, and decreased swelling.  Dose Response. 2011;9(4):358-83

It is important to note that pain treatment is the only approved treatment for laser therapy in the United States and on a personal note I have found it to be very effective.  I have suffered from chronic low back pain since I was 18.  Chiropractic care, massages, home exercise, foam rolling, and working out have become staples in my life to help control the pain and keep me mobile.  I am not lost in the irony that I am a chiropractor with chronic back pain.  This last year has been a particularly tough one with pain daily that comes and goes in severity.  This brought me to investigate more options for pain relief where I came across research showing the promising benefits of low level laser therapy.

Since acquiring the laser, we have seen benefit with helping control pain of arthritic joints, plantar fasciitis, back pain, neck pain, shoulder and arm tendonitis, and sciatic nerve pain to name a few.   The amazing part of using laser therapy in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments is that the risks and side effects are minimal and overall, it is a very safe option for those looking for a noninvasive form of treatment.   If you have questions about laser therapy or would like to explore it as an option, please call 507-437-7781 to have your questions answered.
